How to check whether a DJI drone is still linked to an account with FPV goggles (DJI Goggles)

With DJI goggles, the check happens in DJI Fly on your phone: pair the goggles with the drone, connect your phone to the goggles over USB, then check in four screens whether the aircraft is still linked to a DJI account.

Before buying or selling a used DJI drone, it is important to check whether it is still linked to its owner's DJI account.

A drone that is still tied to the previous owner's account can cause real trouble for the buyer.

If you fly with FPV goggles (DJI Goggles), the check happens in the DJI Fly app on your phone. The path is the same as from a controller with a screen, but the devices must be connected to each other first — that is what the first two steps are about.

Step 1 — Pair the goggles with the drone

Turn on both the drone and the goggles, then make sure they are paired: the drone's video feed must appear in the goggles.

Without that link, the drone will not show up under Device Management: DJI Fly can only report what the goggles actually see.

Step 2 — Connect your phone to the goggles over USB

Plug your phone into the USB-C port of the goggles with the supplied cable, then open the DJI Fly app. Allow access to the accessory if your phone asks for it.

Once DJI Fly is open, tap Profile at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3 — Check that you are signed in to a DJI account

The check also requires being signed in to a DJI account. After opening Profile, look at the left-hand column: the account name or nickname appears there, under its profile picture.

Then select Device Management.

Step 4 — Select the drone you want to check

The Device Management page lists the devices attached to your account. Select the drone you want to check.

Step 5 — Check the account the drone is linked to

Once the drone is selected, open the Account and Device section if it is not already showing, then look at the Linked to line.

That line shows which account the drone is linked to. Part of the e-mail address is hidden for privacy.

What does « Already linked to another account » mean?

If that notice appears, the drone is still linked to another DJI account.

When buying in person, run this check with the seller, before you leave with the drone. Bring the goggles' USB cable and a charged phone: without them, the check is impossible on the spot.

Do not stop at checking that the drone powers on, takes off and flies: check its linking status too. That is what prevents discovering, after the sale, that the aircraft still belongs to its previous owner's account.
